TECHNOLOGIES

New website development and automated property synchronisation

The project involved complete website redesign and the creation of a’automated integration infrastructure with the management software estate agent external already in use by the agency.

The main objective was automate the listing catalogue update, eliminating manual handling while simultaneously guaranteeing a’modern user experience, accessible is oriented towards conversion.

Thanks to this intervention, the portal updates itself automatically every night with active properties, their respective galleries and detailed technical data sheets.

GOAL

Catalogue automation and lead generation optimisation

The main aim consisted of’cancel manual loading times site adverts and unify the management of data coming from the management system. To achieve this, the following steps were implemented:

  • Definition and mapping of custom fields between the website structure and the data layout provided by the management system.
  • Creation of an advanced search and filtering engine to allow users to smoothly navigate between property types and contracts (sale/rent).
  • Design of a responsive, accessible graphic layout compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards.
  • Integration of property valuation tools and dedicated landing pages for new builds and developments.

TECHNICAL SOLUTION

Custom XML integration via CronJob, Query Builder and Crocoblock/WordPress architecture

To meet the specific technical and functional requirements, the following solutions have been adopted:

  • Custom XML synchronisation plugin (PHP 8 / cURL / SimpleXML): A WordPress plugin has been developed from scratch which executes a scheduled script via a CronJob during the night hours. The script queries the XML feed generated by the management system via cURL and parses it using SimpleXML.
  • Dynamic data management & custom tables (Crocoblock JetEngine / PostMeta): The listings are managed as Custom Post Types (CPTs). The extended meta fields and analytical information of the property listing are stored and optimised in custom database tables.
  • Media import and synchronisation: The script programmatically processes the media node by downloading and associating the images with the WordPress media library, automatically setting the featured image and the gallery.
  • Dynamic SQL Query and Filtering Algorithm: To allow the search filters (Smart Filters) to correctly query the custom table containing contract types and options, a programmatic alteration via hook/filter on the JetEngine SQL Query Builder has been implemented to handle table prefixes on any environment.
  • Accessibility and UX standards: optimisation of the HTML tree (tag hierarchy, title and aria-label attributes), management of colour contrasts and validation of alternative text (alt text) for all multimedia resources..

RESULT

Operational efficiency and immediate navigation

The transition from the old system to the new platform has brought about a radical change:

  • from manual upload to zero-touch synchronisation The property catalogue updates automatically every night in the background without requiring any manual intervention by the agency's staff.
  • Performance and data cleaning: No longer active listings are handled and updated securely, preserving the URL structure to avoid generating 404 errors.
  • Editorial flexibility: the agency now has a scalable system to autonomously generate promotional landing pages and collect property valuation enquiries directly from the website.
